David
Vest, Supervisor, has been with Abrahamse and Company since 1989. He’s
appreciated for his ability to handle a big crew, work hard, and get the work
done. David enjoys his work. Like many others working for the company, he feels
he’s part of a family in which each member is cared for and given opportunities
to be successful. He says that the company structure is set up for there to
be a win/win for everyone involved.
David supervised
the construction of the University of Virginia’s Center for Christian
Studies, a three-story addition built from the ground up onto the back of an
existing building. The Center contains office space, a conference room, library,
and rental apartments. He’s proud of how the building, with its sleek,
light, modern design went up. “We didn’t have much room because
we were building behind a bank and some apartments. We had to build the wall
in 10-foot sections on

the ground. Then
a crane came in and lifted the panels in place for us. That was the only way
we could do it.” He’s also proud of the Aulebach house in the
Rosemont subdivision. That house is built on top of a mountain, with exposed
beams in the ceiling and huge windows that look out to the mountains.
“I work
with a great bunch of people at this company.“ David says. “We
seem to get the best clients, too. I’ve never worked on one project
that I would not go back to if the client called tomorrow.”
After work, David’s
favorite pastime is…more building! He likes helping folks out with small
remodeling projects, such as putting up storm doors, building decks and fences,
enclosing a patio area, etc.
