Supervisor
Marvin Chambers hails from Buckingham County, VA. Starting out as a laborer,
he began working for Abrahamse and Company in 1986. Now he’s a multitalented
supervisor who thinks it only fair to do every aspect of the work. “I
like talking to subs and keeping my crew in line, but I also like digging ditches.
I like doing it all.” Marvin brings a jocular manner and great sense of
humor to his work. “I came in as a laborer, picking up trash, hauling
gravel and concrete, but I’m going to take Dale’s spot some day,”
he confides. “Dale just doesn’t know it yet!” Then he lets
out a great infectious laugh. He can joke so openly because, “We’re
all associates, here, equals. I hang out with many people in the company. We’re
like family and friends.”
Marvin’s
first job as a supervisor was an addition to the home of James and Trudi
Reswick in Crozet. Marvin keeps his eye on the job, from framing to finish
work. “I love seeing the progress made, from footings to the roof.
I love keeping to a schedule and seeing things get done.”
