Dale Abrahamse found his way to a career in construction after moving to Charlottesville in 1972. He grew up in Michigan, had the good fortune to spend two years in the Peace Corps in Ecuador from 1963 to 1965 and then graduate from Michigan State University in 1967. After graduation, he spent five years as a teacher of special education in New York City and southern California. He likes to say that not a day goes by that he doesn’t call on the skills learned in managing a classroom. Since 1974, he has been continuously involved in the growth and production of Abrahamse & Company Builders growing it from a three-man carpentry subcontracting crew to a thirty-plus full-service construction company. Dale is married and has a daughter who is finishing her PHD in astrophysics at University of California at Davis. Dale takes pleasure in his meditation practice, reading, friends, and good movies. He also likes helping people obtain their construction goals and enjoys his relationships with his clients.
